Are you Afraid of the Dark?: “The Tale of Cutter’s Treasure: Part 2” (S4E05)

Plot Summary

Following directly from the cliffhanger of Part 1, Rush continues his dangerous journey to stop the vengeful spirit of pirate Jonas Cutter. With the cursed medallion still in his possession, Rush seeks guidance from Sardo, whose magical know-how proves more helpful than he first let on. The two venture deeper into Cutter’s realm, discovering hidden tunnels, spectral traps and long-lost relics linked to the pirate’s dark past.

Rush soon learns that Cutter’s power is fuelled by fear and that the pirate intends to reclaim the medallion to fully restore his supernatural strength. With time running out, Rush must summon his courage to confront Cutter face-to-face. In a tense battle of wits and bravery, he manages to break the curse and free the trapped souls of Cutter’s ghostly crew, finally ending the pirate’s reign of terror.

The resolution brings closure not only to the haunting but to Rush’s personal struggle with self-belief, allowing him to return home with a newfound sense of confidence.

Highlights:

  • Strong continuity from Part 1, with satisfying story progression.
  • Cutter’s lair is visually eerie, filled with supernatural ambience.
  • Rush’s personal growth gives the finale emotional weight.

What Doesn’t Work:

  • The final confrontation, while exciting, feels slightly brief.
  • Sardo’s magical explanations are vague in places.
  • Some effects in the lair are noticeably dated.
